| Endeavour Launch by SEEDA Chairman |
Unlocking the freedom of freehold for the region's business occupiers, SEEDA Chairman, James Brathwaite with Nic Evans and Roger Fidler. Thu 12th May 2005/ID38 Media ReleaseThe Endeavour Business Park, one of the last parcels of land from the former Southmoor Park site at Havant, has been officially launched by James Brathwaite, CBE, Chairman of the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA), marking the completion of the first phase of regeneration for the area. Endeavour is being developed by Winchester-based Durngate Property Group. One of only a handful of smaller freehold developments in the entire region, it has already generated enormous interest with four of the 21 units already sold. The 50,000 sq ft development has been built on land at Penner Road which was formerly owned by IBM and acquired by SEEDA, and sits within the 7.28 hectare Broadmarsh regeneration initiative. Endeavour is a purpose-built versatile development of office and light industrial units ranging in size from 1,241 sq ft to 13,900 sq ft. Whilst some leasehold opportunities are available, this is largely a freehold development offering local businesses the chance to own their premises. “Freehold units are in short supply and great demand,” says Nic Evans of Durngate Estates. “Recent years have of course seen stock market investments plummet and this has in turn taken its toll on pensions. Business people are turning to the mainstay of commercial property to shore up their plans for retirement. Why pay rent to a landlord when you can be paying it to your own pension plan, have freedom within the building, and the benefit of the capital asset at the end of the day?” SEEDA Chairman, James Brathwaite commented: “I am delighted to have been invited to officially launch the Endeavour Business Park. Its establishment will be welcome news for businesses wishing to relocate to Havant, and for local businesses looking to remain within the area. SEEDA has invested a great deal in the development of Southmoor Park to foster economic prosperity, by attracting inward investment, and providing opportunities for future employment.” Phase one of the Endeavour Business Park is now complete and work will begin on phase two shortly. Located in the Broadmarsh business area, the development offers buildings suitable for a variety of uses from offices, research and development to light industrial and storage. Units at Endeavour Business Park also benefit from allocated parking spaces and its great location offering ready access to the A27 and A3(M). Please contact Suzanne Ivers for more information.
